PIANO LESSONS IN OREM, UTAH

After more than fifteen years of teaching piano, I've learned this truth: most people don't practice piano as much as they would like. So I don't build my piano lessons on that hope. I build them so the time we are at the piano is genuinely good. You make real music, you feel the small wins, and you leave wanting to come back. When piano practice at home happens, it does accelerate learning. But the promise I can actually keep is the one I control: every single piano lesson is worth showing up for.

Why choose me as your piano teacher?

• I hold a Bachelor's Degree in Piano Performance and Pedagogy from Brigham Young University, so students build on a strong musical foundation from day one.

• I've been teaching for over fifteen years. I started to teach piano at age twelve. I enjoy teaching piano students of all skill levels from beginning piano students to advanced piano students.

• I've performed as a solo pianist with the Utah Symphony and other orchestras. I use that experience to help you learn to perform.

• I love teaching the classics, the hymns of faith, and everything in between.

• Most of all, I strive to be patient and assist you as you learn to play piano.

A piano lesson plan that grows with you

• Young Beginners: We start with exploration. You'll play songs you already know, like "Twinkle, Twinkle" and "Old MacDonald," now coming alive in your own fingers. We cover proper hand position, beginning note reading, and simple rhythms, all built on the principle I return to again and again: 'It's not what you play, but how you play it.'

• Elementary: You continue to incorporate and strengthen ear training, sight reading, and learning how to play in the keys of A Major, F# minor, E major, and C# minor. We incorporate what you learn into what you play on the piano. You'll get the opportunity to perform in recitals, and you will build confidence in sharing your musical experiences.

• Mid-Level: You'll develop personalized repertoire and your piano performance skills deepen. You'll acquire practice tools, and use rhythms to unlock difficult passages as you continue to make steady progress.

• Advanced: Here you refine your piano technique, you study theory in greater depth, and you build a musical identity that lasts well beyond the lesson bench whether piano becomes a lifelong hobby or something more.
